Concerns

Wire Poke?

If a wire causes irritation, push the wire away from the area using the eraser end of a pencil or use a spoon. If a wire cannot be tucked away, cover the end of the wire with a small piece of orthodontic wax until you can see your Orthodontist.

Loose Bracket?

Please contact us as soon as possible so that we may check and repair your appliances. The use of wax can prevent the bracket from spinning around on the wire and lessen irritation to lips and cheeks while you wait to see us.

Elastic Hook Broken?

Please discontinue your elastic wear and call our office to schedule a repair visit. Not wearing your elastics properly for any extended amount of time will add time to your estimated treatment schedule. Never wear elastics on one side only!

Broken Forsus?

Opening your mouth too wide can cause the spring and rod in your Forsus appliance to separate. You can repair this at home by compressing the spring, pushing it back. Then, reinsert the rod.

Should you be unable to reconnect the forsus, tie the top and bottom forsus components to your braces with some floss (See Image) and then give us a call.
